Know Your Reproductive Rights
**Disclaimer: As we work to adapt this project to the realities of a new Administration, please be aware that some of the federal resources listed here, such as the reproductiverights.gov website, have already been removed, will soon be removed, or may be altered to contain misleading, biased anti-abortion information. Please be vigilant if you are utilizing these resources in the coming weeks. We will be back with additional details as soon as possible.**
Since Roe v. Wade was overturned in June 2022, access to abortion services has varied substantially from state to state. Currently, Virginia is the only state in the South without a ban or extreme restrictions on abortion. As we face an unprecedented reproductive health care crisis nationwide, I will continue fighting to protect reproductive freedom across the country.

STATE
NOTE: While abortion is accessible in Virginia, some elected officials have an anti-abortion bias which may impact the resources available from state agencies. Please be vigilant that there are “crisis pregnancy centers” in Virginia that provide misleading information. None of this changes the fact that you are entitled to make your own health care decisions free from interference.

What I Am Doing in Congress
Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus
I am proud to be a Member of the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus—a group of over 150 Members of the House of Representatives committed to advancing reproductive rights. From supporting key legislation to amplifying the voices of those in VA-04 and around the country, I stand with my colleagues in the fight for reproductive freedom.
Legislation
I am working to advance bills that safeguard your reproductive rights and access to care, protect your health care data, and reaffirm our nation’s commitment to global health and human rights, among other issues.
Abortion Rights
I am a proud original cosponsor of the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would codify the protections of Roe v. Wade and enshrine the national right to abortion into law. I also signed the Pro-Choice Caucus’ discharge petition, which is only seven signatures from forcing a vote on the House Floor despite Republicans’ opposition. Furthermore, I am a strong supporter of the Ensuring Women’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Act to protect the right to travel between states for reproductive health care, the STOP Comstock Act to repeal parts of existing laws that anti-abortion extremists want to misapply to ban abortion, and the removal of the ratification deadline for the Equal Rights Amendment to enshrine gender equity in the U.S. Constitution.
Abortion Access
In addition to protecting the right to abortion, reproductive freedom means every person has access to the care they need, regardless of income, insurance, or zip code. This requires action to abolish harmful and discriminatory restrictions such as the Hyde Amendment—a policy prohibiting all taxpayer funding for abortion care, blocking abortion care coverage for all those who rely on federal government-sponsored or subsidized health insurance. I cosponsor the Equal Access to Abortion Coverage in Health Insurance (EACH) Act to help ensure everybody can access the full spectrum of health care regardless of their income or insurance. I am also proud to support the Reproductive Health Care Accessibility Act to eliminate barriers to accessing reproductive care for individuals with disabilities.
Other critical abortion access bills my colleagues and I are working to advance in the House include the Reproductive Health Travel Fund Act to support those traveling to access care, the Protecting Reproductive Freedom Act to reaffirm the FDA’s authority over medication abortion approval and access, and the Stop Anti-Abortion Disinformation Act to crack down on “crisis pregnancy centers” which spread biased and harmful disinformation. Additionally, I joined multiple amicus briefs to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court to protect access to the safe, effective abortion medication mifepristone and to emergency abortion care.
Family Planning & Fertility Care
Most Americans have used one or more methods of contraception—and nearly 4 million people per year utilize family planning services through the federal Title X program. Every person deserves the right to decide whether and when they become a parent and should be able to access the family planning support and birth control that works best for them.
As extreme Republican attacks on birth control are already taking place across the nation, I support the bipartisan Right to Contraception Act. This bill would enshrine the right to contraception into federal law and protect the rights of all people who use contraception. I also support the Affordability is Access Act to expand insurance coverage for over-the-counter contraceptives and the Equal Access to Contraception for Veterans Act to limit copayments for contraception for those utilizing VA health services. Additionally, I cosponsor the Access to Family Building Act, which provides a statutory right to access assisted reproductive technology, including in vitro fertilization, and was proud to sign the discharge petition to demand a vote on the House floor on this important bill.
Data Privacy
Your reproductive health care information should never be weaponized or shared without your consent. That is why I support the My Body, My Data Act to create a new national standard for protecting the privacy of personal reproductive and sexual health data.
Global Health & Human Rights
While extreme Republican legislators push policies to curtail human rights and slash global health and family planning funding, I stand with my Democratic colleagues in support of the Global Health, Empowerment, and Rights (HER) Act to repeal the Global Gag rule, the Abortion is Health Care Everywhere Act to repeal the Helms amendment, the Greater Leadership Overseas for the Benefit of Equality (GLOBE) Act to protect LGBTQ+ individuals and reproductive rights, and the Support UNFPA Funding Act to reaffirm our nation’s commitment to the United Nations family planning agency and global gender equality.
