Internships

My office offers internships in the spring, summer, and fall. The internships are designed for undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates interested in learning more about our nation’s legislative branch. This is a paid internship. Candidates with ties to Virginia’s Fourth Congressional District are prioritized.

In Washington, DC, interns will have a variety of responsibilities, including, but not limited to, answering phones, processing incoming mail, researching legislation, attending hearings and briefings, drafting responses to constituent letters on a variety of topics, and assisting with media clips.

The hours are flexible but generally run 9:00am to 6:00pm when Congress is in session and 9:00am to 5:00pm when Congress is out of session.

District Office

In Richmond, VA, interns’ responsibilities will vary. They will answer phones, write letters, assist with media clips, and complete other tasks as assigned. Additionally, they may assist with constituent casework and District-based projects.
