McClellan Joins SEEC and Electrification Caucus Participate in Zero-Emission Heavy-Duty Vehicle Showcase on Capitol Hill

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan (VA-04) joined the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) and the bicameral Electrification Caucus joined the second annual “Driving American Jobs: Zero-Emission Vehicles at Work” showcase on Capitol Hill that highlighted the range of zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles that are already driving Made-In-America manufacturing jobs and securing a healthy planet for our children.
In attendance were Senator Edward Markey (MA), Representative Paul Tonko (NY-20), Representative Jared Huffman (CA-02), and White House National Climate Advisor Ali Zaidi, as well as stakeholders and advocates from across the clean vehicle manufacturing sector.
The event livestream can be found here.
“As America’s transportation sector remains the biggest driver of carbon pollution, it’s clear we need to shift gears and accelerate our investments in zero-emission vehicles,” said SEEC and Electrification Caucus Co-Chair Congressman Tonko. “Thanks to the historic funding from the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, we’re already seeing a surge in electric vehicle manufacturing across the country. This expanding industry continues to lay the groundwork for more high-quality, union jobs and a stronger, more resilient economy. I’m proud to stand with my SEEC and Electrification Caucus colleagues to showcase the road ahead for American manufacturing—where clean energy innovation ignites progress, fuels job creation, and puts us on the path to a more sustainable future for all.”
“We are at a pivotal moment in the energy transition,” said SEEC Co-Chair Congresswoman Matsui. “More and more Americans are feeling the effects of climate change, but thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure Law, we are making real progress in reducing climate pollution. Clean energy and clean vehicles are the next technological and industrial revolution, and this is our opportunity to build a stronger, cleaner economy that works for all Americans. California is already leading the charge with Advanced Clean Trucks and Advanced Clean Fleets. These smart, forward-looking emissions standards are paving the way for the next generation of clean technology solutions, and thanks to Democrats’ clean energy plan, these next-generation technologies will be made right here in America.”
