McClellan Announces Launch of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition

March 13, 2025

Richmond, VA – Today, Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan (VA-04) announced the start of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition for high school students in Virginia’s Fourth Congressional District.

Every spring, the U.S. House of Representatives holds a nationwide art competition to encourage artistic expression in our schools. Hosted by the Congressional Institute, the annual competition seeks to cultivate artistic talent by challenging participants to create their own original piece of art. The winning artist will have their work displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year and will be invited to Washington, D.C. to meet with Congresswoman McClellan and attend the annual award ceremony.

“I’m excited to invite all high school students who live in Virginia’s Fourth to participate in this year’s Congressional Art Competition,” said Congresswoman McClellan. “This competition fosters creative expression and gives students an opportunity to be a part of the history we make every day in the nation’s capital. I strongly encourage all young artists in the district to showcase their artistic skills, and I eagerly await your submissions!”

The competition is open to any high school student (grades 9-12) who lives in Virginia’s Fourth Congressional District. Artwork must be original, two-dimensional, and created solely by the participating student without assistance from AI. Congresswoman McClellan will convene a panel of local judges to help determine the 2025 winner.

The deadline to submit to the Office of Congresswoman McClellan is April 22, 2025. Read the full rules and eligibility requirements for the 2025 competition on the U.S. House website. For detailed submission guidelines and other information, please visit the link here.
